二本松城

Nihonmatsu Castle

二本松城は、戊辰戦争の際に新政府軍と戦った戦地でもある。新政府軍が二本松城下に殺到し、僅か1日の戦闘において落城した。この時、「二本松少年隊」と呼ばれる少年兵が動員された悲しい物語が残る。
天守台から望む景色は絶景で、緑深い奥羽の山並みが一望できる。日本100名城の一つで、国の史跡に指定されている。

Nihonmatsu Castle was also the site of a battle against the new government forces during the Boshin War. The new government forces flooded into Nihonmatsu Castle, and the castle fell after only one day of fighting. A sad story remains of the mobilization of boy soldiers called “Nihonmatsu Boys’ Corps.
The view from the castle tower is spectacular, offering a panoramic view of the deep green mountains of Ou.
The castle is one of the 100 best castles in Japan and is designated as a national historic site.
