名古屋城本丸御殿

Nagoya Castle Honmaru Palace

かつて天守閣とともに国宝だった名古屋城本丸御殿。この本丸御殿は、近世城郭御殿の最高傑作として呼ばれており城郭としての国宝第1号だった。だが、残念なことに戦時中、天守閣と共に米軍の空襲によって灰燼と化す。
しかし、幸いにも文献や実測図・古写真・障壁画などが保存されており、忠実に再現され、2018年に一般公開に漕ぎつけた現代の傑作である。

Nagoya Castle Honmaru Goten, once a national treasure along with the castle tower. The Honmaru Goten is considered the masterpiece of the modern castle palace, and was the first national treasure as a castle fortress. Unfortunately, it and the castle tower were burned to ashes in an air raid by the U.S. military during the war.
Fortunately, however, documents, measured drawings, old photographs, and barrier paintings have been preserved, and the building has been faithfully recreated as a modern masterpiece, which was opened to the public in 2018.
