Mixture of the old and the new

江戸の建造物である増上寺。昭和の建造物である東京タワー。それぞれの時代を象徴する建造物が交錯する構図。東京タワーが建っている場所は、その昔は増上寺の境内だった場所だ。まさか増上寺の境内に見上げるほどの高層タワーが建つとは江戸っ子も将軍様も予想もしなかったはずだ。

Zojoji Temple, a building from the Edo period. Tokyo Tower, a building from the Showa period. A composition where buildings symbolizing each era intersect. The site where Tokyo Tower stands was once the grounds of Zojoji Temple. I’m sure that neither the people of Edo nor the Shogun would have expected that a tower so tall would be built on the grounds of Zojoji Temple.
